Bárbara Sainza

Bárbara Sainza (A Coruña, 1976). I have a Bachelor´s Degree of Fine Arts from Vigo University (2002) speciality of painting and PhD by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2012) with the thesis entitled “La creación, la producción, los procesos y las prácticas artísticas contemporáneas” directed by Josu Larrañaga Altuna. I am currently a professor in Bachelor´s Degree in Animation and in Bachelor´s Degree in Digital Content Development Engineering in University Center of Technology and Digital Art (U-tad) and member of the research group “Prácticas Artísticas y Formas de Conocimiento Contemporáneo” (UCM).

As an artist at AdHoc Gallery in Vigo between  and 2002 and 2008, I took part in an exhibition entitled ´Jóvenes Artista´, in collective exhibitions with artist like. María Ruido, Azuzena Vieites (2003) Curro González or Concha García (2004) and also in the Contemporary Art Fairs " Sevilla Arte Actual" (2003) and Arco´04. Other noteworthy group exhibitions are “La Mina” in Sala X (Pontevedra, 2001), II Premio Auditorio de Galicia para Xoves Artistas (Santiago de Compostela, 2002), “Matalotaje, proyectos MTPAC” in the room of exhibitions of the Fine Arts faculty of UCM (Madrid, 2006) or the individual exhibition “La pobre Bárbara. Libro de quejas y reclamaciones” in Espacio f (Madrid, 2012).

Nowadays my investigation and my artistic practice link themselves in the study about epistemic character of the images, about our relation and interaction with the images, and consequent reprocessing in the production of imaginaries. To underline the article published in the Efímera magazine “Las palabras y los procesos / The Order of Words and Processes” (2013) where I treat the relations and the secret networks that are articulated concerning the contemporary art processes or the article published in the Re-visiones magazine “Hacerse imágenes, ser imágenes / To become images, to be images” (2012) where I approach an hallucinated dimension of the virtual images.
